چکیده

NATIX is an efficient, native repository for storing, retrieving and managing XML documents. Other systems map XML data into structures maintainable by traditional DBMS. This introduces additional layers between the logical data and its physical storage, slowing down both updates and query processing. NATIX is native in the sense that it supports tree-structured objects like XML documents at low architecture levels. One example for this low-level support of tree-structured large objects is our parameterizable split algorithm. It dynamically maintains physical records of size smaller than a page which contain sets of connected tree nodes. This not only improves efficiency by clustering subtrees but also facilitates their compact representation. 1. Motivation XML (eXtensible Markup Language) was originally designed to be an exchange format for documents and data over the Internet. With the advent of query/stylesheet languages, XML is increasingly used not only during transfer, but also as storage format for processing and querying the data. Hence, efficient repositories for XML are needed.

Efficient Native XML Storage

XML has emerged as one of the popular data-representation formats for information storage and exchange. XML data today range from representing small files to encapsulating gigabytes of information. Large XML databases must be stored on mass storage devices for both persistence as well as costefficiency. For mass storage of data today, disk drives are the most cost-effective medium. Current appr...

Standardized Storage of Sports Data Based on XML

Sports data feature strong timeliness, multiple types, many specifications, large data amount and very complex storage. The information technology has been more widely applied in sports data storage, and also achieved a wealth of research findings. In terms of sports data, the paper proposes a standardized data storage solution based on XML, makes a brief description of the methods and principl...

XML subtree reconstruction from relational storage of XML documents

Numerous researchers have proposed to use relational databases to store and query XML documents. In these systems, the elements selected by an XML query are returned to an application either by select mode or by reconstruct mode. For the reconstruct mode, the XML subtrees that are rooted at the selected elements need to be extracted and reconstructed from the relational storage of XML documents...

Treetank, Designing A Versioned XML Storage

XML underlies the same constant modification scenarios like any other resource especially in flexible environments like the WWW. Therefor intelligent handlings of versioned XML are mandatory. Due to the structural nature of XML, the efficient storage of changes in the data and therefor in the tree needs new paradigms regarding efficient storage and effective retrieval operations. We present a n...

Path Materialization Revisited: An Efficient Storage Model for XML Data

XML is emerging as a new major standard for representing data on the world wide web. Several XML storage models have been proposed to store XML data in different database management systems. The unique feature of model-mappingbased approaches is that no DTD information is required for XML data storage. In this paper, we present a new modelmapping-based storage model, called XParent. Unlike the ...
